August 05, 20262 min read

Important update for all Loon Triathlon athletes: due to the heat forecast for this weekend, Sunday's race start has been moved up one hour — from 7:30 AM to 6:30 AM.

The Key Details

Race day: Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Lincoln, Maine. The race now begins at 6:30 AM sharp — plan your morning accordingly and arrive with time to spare.

Packet pickup: Saturday, August 8, from 3-6 pm at the WHY NOT STOP, 293 W. roadway, Lincoln, ME.. With the earlier Sunday start, picking up your packet Saturday matters more than ever — it's one less thing between you and the starting line in the early morning.

Why the Change

This weekend's forecast calls for significant heat, and athlete safety comes first. Starting an hour earlier means the swim, bike, and run happen during the coolest part of the morning, before temperatures climb. It's the right call for everyone on the course — athletes, volunteers, and support crews alike.

How to Prepare for the Earlier Start

Adjust your alarm, your breakfast timing, and your travel plan to Lincoln tonight rather than race morning. Hydrate well Saturday, not just Sunday. Even with the earlier start, it will warm quickly as the race goes on — pace yourself, use the water stops, and listen to your body.

Spread the Word

If you're racing with friends, training partners, or teammates, make sure they've seen this update. Not everyone checks their email the day before a race — a quick text from you might be the message that gets someone to the start line on time.

We'll see you in Lincoln — Saturday at 3 to 6 pm for packets, We will be at the at the WHY NOT STOP at 293 W. Broadway, in a tent outside the building on Saturday for the Packet Pickup.Sunday at 6:30 AM for the start. Race safe, race smart, and thank you for being part of it.
