Getting Ready for Race Day in Bangor

Race day is approaching.

Whether you’re running the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K on June 7, the final weeks are about sharpening your approach and arriving fresh, focused, and ready to execute.

Taper with Purpose

In the final two to three weeks:

  • Gradually reduce mileage

  • Keep short, easy runs to stay loose

  • Prioritize sleep and recovery

Avoid the late push to “do more.” The goal is to feel strong at the start, not worn down.

Fuel and Hydrate Consistently

Leading into race week:

  • Maintain steady hydration

  • Keep meals simple and familiar

  • Increase carbohydrates slightly if it fits your routine

Race morning should mirror what you’ve practiced in training.

Lock in Your Gear

Prepare everything the day before:

  • Broken-in shoes

  • Comfortable clothing

  • Bib and pins

  • Watch, fuel, and any hydration

If you didn’t train in it, don’t race in it.

Set a Clear Race Plan

Know your approach before you arrive:

  • Target pace

  • Hydration points

  • When to hold back and when to push

Starting controlled and finishing strong is the difference maker across every distance.

Know the Course and Logistics

Before June 7:

  • Review the course

  • Confirm parking and start times

  • Plan to arrive early

Give yourself time to settle in and absorb the atmosphere. Bangor race day brings strong community energy.

Trust Your Training

By race week, the work is done.

Focus on execution:

  • Stay calm

  • Stay disciplined

  • Run your race

See You on June 7

From first-time 5K runners to experienced marathoners, this is your day.

Train smart. Show up ready. Run strong.
